Troed-y-rhiw Local History Forum, Meeting 2.

Over 60 residents attended the second meeting of Troed-y-rhiw Local History Forum which was held last Thursday at Carmel Chapel. David Collier shared a collection of historic images of the village with the audience in a slide show and additional materials were set out as a display. The organisers have been extremely encouraged by the positive feedback received following this and the first Forum meeting and by the large number of people that remained after both presentations to discuss matters of interest. The next meeting will be held on 23rd February when the speaker will be Clive Thomas. More details will follow.
By happy coincidence Troedyrhiw Neighbourhood Watch, as part of their village improvement programme, have set up a permanent display of old photographs of the village on the Square. This is already receiving much interest and will, we are sure, provide a boost to the drive that is under way to increase the level of pride in our village.

About davidjcollier

Originally from South Wales I have lived in Nottinghamshire for over forty years. I am married and have three grown up children and two grandchildren. Having worked in education for 43 years I will retire in July 2012. My interests include history (general, local and family), rugby union, swimming, photography, bird watching and gardening. For the benefit of anyone who may actually read this (extremely unlikely, I admit) please do not confuse 'interests' with knowledge or skill. My involvement in a community project which aims to rescue a graveyard from the effects of almost 30 years of neglect. also keeps me quite busy. View all posts by davidjcollier
